Here's a screen shoot of some brand new Anything Goes Apparel designs I'm working on.

I haven't even released the summer range and I'm already working on new designs. Currently working on two different poses for this one because I can't decide which will look best.

Best get back onto my summer project for uni!

Hand Rendered Lettering

A little something from this evening. I'm not overly confident with typography so have been trying to develop my hand rendered lettering.

The first 'AG' is a scan of the hand rendered lettering and then the other three are edited in photoshop, adding some different effects to enhance the original.

Freelance/Personal Work 1.0

Here are some examples of my personal and freelance work from the past 6 months.

These are 4 examples of personal illustrations for my clothing brand 'Anything Goes Apparel'. The brand is mainly influenced by tattoo art, pin up girls and music but recently I have been exploring other styles of designs for future prints.

If you want to take a look at the products available and maybe even purchase something then head over to - www.anythinggoesapparel.co.uk

This illustration was for a now defunct clothing brand called 'Young & Co Clothing'. They wanted a simple pin up girl wearing an indian head dress that would be suitable for a bold, single colour screen print. This is a mockup of the design on a t-shirt made in Photoshop.

This is my take on a 'zombie' stylised rework of the Adventure Time character 'Lumpy Space Princess' for a Lincoln (UK) based brand called 'Wildcard Clothing'. They have a shop in Lincoln at the top of the high street or you can check them out online here - www.facebook.com/wildcardtees

I will try to keep the blog updated with current personal and freelance work as well as work from my course. If you want to contact me about any freelance work then feel free to at martyn.brown2@gmail.com

Introduction

I've just completed the first year of my Illustration degree at the University of Lincoln. I'll be using this blog to upload artwork from my course as well as freelance and personal illustrations.

Here is an example of some of my first year work.

This is a sample of illustrated Haikus based on news stories found in various UK based newspapers on a single day. I bound the illustrations in the from of a hand-made book.

This is a client visual from a project titled 'Reboot'. The brief required that I take a well known, traditional piece of art and rework it in another style. This was one of my ideas for rebooting 'Napoleon Crossing The Alps' by Jacques-Louis David. I took aspects of the original image and incorporated them as tattoos on Napoleon's hand. I focused on the hand as it was a key focus point of the original painting.

This is a series of postcards I was asked to create to illustrate Haikus that explored 'The Meaning Of Life'. I decided to focus each postcard on 'Birth', 'Life' and 'Death'.

This was part of a small illustrated book project titled 'The Endangered Island'. I developed a character with was a hybrid of an Emu and a Porcupine with mechanical aspects. The ideas was that the creature was trapped on an island where certain events were causing the creatures on the island to become endangered.

I decided to place the creature in a woman's hair as this brought to mind many hair related scenarios where the creature could be in danger; combing, washing, cutting, drying and more. Here is the front cover and 3 examples.
